Hoplias aimara have arrived, and they are angry. Besides jetlag these fish are in a genuine foul mood attacking the glass, fingers, nets, hands, bags and boxes. Sizes are from 30-40cm - these fish must be handled with great care!

Check our book website: http://www.amazon-below-water.com for an under water photograph of a giant sized (100cm) aimara in its natural habitat.

Our breeder has sent 100 small tank raised zebra plecos (Hypancistrus zebra) from Europe, nice to see a large group of these beautiful plecos in one aquarium!

This amazing Micropoecilia species with the bright orange stripe on its flank has finally decided to start breeding in numbers.

Blue eye plecos (Panaque suttonorum) have come in good size and with well developed odontodes, eating driftwood and algae pellets.

We have Brazilian black stingrays (Potamotrygon henlei, leopoldi, and leopoldi "black diamond/eclipse" with permits, legally exported from Brazil with permits.

From Colombia:

Flower stingrays (Potamotrygon schroederi) are very large and difficult fish that only show their spectacular colours at over 40cm in diameter.

Spotted stingrays (Potamotrygon motoro) are coming in great quality this year.

Water levels in Colombia are dropping, and the first nice fish are arriving from the Rio Orinoco. This year the problem with the altum angels (Pterophyllum altum) seems resolved and we have shipped over 1000 fish with no major problems.

Look for this space to see photos of recent arrivals, photos from the field, and other things fish.

Channa barca have arrived and they are big, mean and already have striking colour. Too bad most places in North America think that they will take over our rivers..... luckily Montreal is too cold a place and there are no restrictions on snakeheads here.
